Activities, Festivals and Nightlife Highlights

Identifying as LGBTQ+ doesn’t mean you only want to visit venues or participate in activities that cater to the LGBTQ+ crowd. There are plenty of fun experiences to enjoy and places to visit in Los Angeles that are welcoming to everybody, read more about the city here. Below, however, we’ll highlight just some of the specifically LGBTQ+ friendly places of interest as well as festivals and venues (many of which are centred around West Hollywood or WeHo) we feel like you’d enjoy.

Places of interest;

  • One National Gay and Lesbian Archives at the University of Southern California (USC) libraries. Brush up on your history by visiting the largest repository of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer materials in the world.
  • Open until 2am daily, why not shop ‘till you drop at Block Party WeHo where you’ll find quirky fashion-forward apparel, pride gear, underwear and novelty goods all year round! This is one shopping experience not to be missed.
  • Join the lively guides on an Out & About Tour of Los Angeles where you’ll discover underground bars, gay rights battle scars, activism landmarks, gay-friendly businesses and a chance to understand the history behind old Hollywood where Judy Garland used to roam and the phrase ‘lipstick lesbian’ was first muttered.
  • WeHo & Downtown gyms. The likes of Soul Cycle, Barry’s Bootcamp, Gold’s Gym and Grunch WeHo are a safe training haven for the entire LGBTQ+ community. These gyms celebrate everyone’s uniqueness, so if you’re looking to work out and find other likeminded folk then these ought to be high on your hitlist!
  • Out of the Closet is a truly stunning thrift store! Every $0.96 of $1 spent here is donated to AIDS Healthcare Foundation and you can get a free HIV test whilst you shop. So if you’re looking for a bargain and to support a worthy cause, make sure to place this shop on your things to do.
  • Looking for a treat? Head to The Milk Shop in Downtown LA and find a super popular ice cream parlour and baked goods shop, a favourite amongst the LA gay crowd.
